Top 3 Water Parks To Spend Memorial Day Weekend in North TexasMemorial day is coming up quick, and it is a Texas staple to spend it by the pool. Starting Memorial Day, all the water parks and pools open up, giving Texas relief from the heat that is sure to come. It’s a family favorite to spend a day by the pool, and I’ve rounded up the best North Texas water parks to spend your Memorial day hanging out with family.


Water Works

Water Works is Aubrey’s closest water park, located in Denton, Texas. This local water park is perfect for all ages. There are several attractions for all ages. There is a kids play area designed for the little ones, a lazy river perfect to escape the summer heat, and 3 giant water slides as the center of the water park. Additionally, the water park is attached to the NAT, an indoor water center with an Olympic size lap pool, diving boards, and a smaller family friendly pool with a water slide. Water Works has cabanas for rent, so you can stay all day comfortably. If staying all day in the pool isn’t for you, they also have a sand volleyball court to give you a break from the water.

Memorial Day weekend is going to be the first full weekend that it will be open. Water Work will be open daily starting on June 3rd. It’s only $11 for residents over 48 inches tall, and $7 under 48 inches. If you are a non resident, the cost increases by $2. Hurricane Harbor

Hurricane Harbor is a part of the Six Flag’s family, and is situated right across the street from the Arlington Six Flags. It’s a little drive to Arlington from the Aubrey-Denton area, but worth the trip to the huge water park. Hurricane Harbor has an extensive ride list for everyone, whether you want thrill rides, family rides, or rides for the little ones. Something fun about the rides at Hurricane Harbor, are the family rides. These rides you can have several people ride together, making it extra fun for everyone. If you want to just hang out, there are multiple “lagoons” to put your stuff for the day and enjoy the summer weather. For the thrill seekers, there are so many rides that are sure to get your adrenaline going. Some popular rides are the tornado, bringing you into a 132 foot tunnel and into a funnel.

The park has many food options, and lockers available to place your belongings for the day. They are now open on the weekends and will be open daily starting, June 5th from 10:30am-7:00 pm or 8:00 depending on the day. Before planning your trip, be sure to check the operating hours to plan accordingly. Ticket prices vary from $29.99 to $36.99 for adults and $31.99 for children older than 2. Hawaiian Falls

Hawaiian Falls is a Texas grown water park chain. They have 5 locations in The Colony, Garland, Roanoke, Mansfield, and Waco. The Colony is the closest one to Denton-Aubrey area, and that’s the location I will be referring to. For info about the other locations check them out here.

The water park has so many attractions for everyone, and ways to accommodate those who don’t want to ride rides. They have several unique rides, such as the Hawaiian Halfpipe that takes riders up the slide then down. On those sunny Texas days, there is a water walkway to keep your feet cool on the concrete. The water park also has a great lazy river and wave pool for liesure. For the little kids, there is a kids play area with small slides, ropes and a giant water bucket. On the website, they have all rides ranked on how thrilling they are from 1 to 5 if you want to plan out the rides you want to try out.

To make your day a the park comfortable, you have the option to rent 3 different cabanas. The cabanas vary from $100-$325 for the day and come with wait service, drink bands, and chairs to spend the day. Each cabana has additional options and to view the levels check it out here.
