I’ve made Aubrey, Texas my home for over 17 years, and I love this town for so many reasons. So here are my reasons why you should make it your home:
Location
If you’re wanting a really great reason to live in Aubrey, location is one of THE best reasons. Aubrey is an hour away from Dallas, so you can get your big city fix on the weekend for shopping, entertainment, dining or whatever else that the small town doesn’t provide. Additionally it’s only 10 minutes to Denton, for the middle size city. Denton is a great college down with lots of charm, letting you get some of the bigger city perks while still being able to keep the small town for your home. If you want to know some of my favorite things to do in Denton, check out my post on What’s going on in Denton County.
Quiet
Okay, Aubrey isn’t always the most quiet town in the world– think Peanut Festival, or Friday night football games. But the neighborhoods are! Aubrey has enough going on to keep it busy, but quiet enough that I don’t feel like I’m dealing with city noise. I’ve been there, done that with the city life and I wanted a quaint country town for my kids to grow up in.
Schools
Aubrey has a great school district. The high school is still small, with under 600 kids enrolled, which brings it to approximately 150 students in graduating classes. Many of these students go onto great universities. For families with younger kids, there are two great elementary schools and they feed into one middle school. Students enrolled in Aubrey ISD know almost everyone, which makes it fun for kids to go to Aubrey events and know lots of kids in their grade.
Community
Aubrey is small enough that you can know almost everyone. I know the local mechanic, real estate agents, school board members, the guy who owns the gas station, etc. It is really nice to see a familiar faces while running errands in the community. They ask about my family, business, and how life is going which is something really special. I don’t think there’s anything better than feeling like you are a part of a community, and that is exactly what this town has given me.
