Best Places to Furnish Your Home If You Just Moved to Denton County

Best Places to Furnish Your Home If You Just Moved to Denton County Furnishing your house can be a lot of fun, especially since it makes that brand new house a home! However when moving to a new city, it can be difficult to figure out where the best places are to get everything you need to furnish your home. North Texas can be known for its abundance of shopping, including furniture. After living here for many years, I’ve been able to figure out some of the best spots to go to furnish your home. Here are my favorites to stop by:

IKEA

No matter what kind of home you’re trying to style, IKEA is always a great start to getting your home furnished. IKEA is located in Frisco, TX (about 30 minutes from the Aubrey area) and is worth the little drive over. IKEA has home solutions for literally every room in your house at a pretty affordable price point. IKEA’s departments include kitchen solutions, appliances, bedding, mattresses, and office solutions. It’s worth winding around IKEA for an afternoon to piece together the kind of furniture you’d like in your home. As far as style goes for IKEA furniture and solutions, they have many different styles but a good portion is modern. They do feature some classic and traditional pieces but many pieces of furniture are pretty modern but could make it work in any kind of home.

Nebraska Furniture Mart

North Texas’ largest furniture store. This is another store that could take you all day to wander around and see everything. Built just a few years ago, Nebraska Furniture Mart is located in The Colony just off of Hwy 121. This mega store has over 500,000 square feet of retail space and over a million square feet of warehouse. With that much square footage there is a huge selection of almost everything you can think of.

This store has literally everything you could need to outfit a brand new home: electronics, appliances, furniture of all kinds, rugs, decor and kitchen design. They have a wide selection of styles and prices but start at an affordable price point. The styles of furniture vary throughout the store, but in my opinion there is a lot of very traditional and a mix of trendy pieces too. Plus, they also have the Magnolia line of furniture by Joanna Gaines.

Weir’s Furniture Village

For all you southern style lovers, this is for you. Weir’s Furniture Village has the most mix of southern style out of all the stores I’ve picked out. Weir’s is charming, and has a mix of classic, modern and southern furniture at a slightly higher price than IKEA and Nebraska Furniture Mart. Plus, there is a charming little General Store for some extra accent decor, and gifts. If you stop by around Christmastime, there is a large selection of unique Christmas decor. Weir’s departments are pared down from the mega stores. They have furniture, large decor (such as mirrors, and paintings), and mattresses.

The Dump

The Dump sounds like a really strange place to pick up your furniture, but don’t worry it’s not an actual dump. The Dump is a store that brings in select products from brands that are extras, closeouts, or returns that are in perfect condition and sell it at a discounted price. They have some spectacular deals on everything that they sell. In fact, we’ve bought several mattresses there that would retail for 2 or 3 times what we actually spent. The Dump is only open on the weekends in order to keep their overhead low, so make sure to plan ahead so you don’t get disappointed when you stop by on Monday morning. As far as the product selection that is available, they sell all styles and kinds of furniture, mattresses, rugs, decor, and some outdoor furniture.

I love furniture shopping and finding new places to find great pieces to go in my home. It’s been awhile since we’ve totally outfitted our own home, but after helping many clients relocate to the North Texas area they’ve loved stopping by these stores to fix up their new home. If you need more recommendations of where to stop by to get furniture for your new home, let me know here. Or if you have somewhere for me to recommend let me know too.
