Home Staging Tips

Home Staging Tips

Getting a home sold fast is a good thing for everyone- the buyer, seller, and the real estate agent. But getting a home sold quickly is not as easy as just sticking a sign out in the yard. Sellers can make small changes to their home to make it more appealing to buyers by staging their home to be sold.

Clutter

Some people do well with clutter. I’m one of those people who has a habit of collecting clutter where it’s convenient to drop something. However, when selling a home all of the clutter needs to go away. Buyers get distracted by looking over all the clutter that is personal to you and can’t easily visualize how their current belongings will fit into the space.

Colors

If, as a seller, you are even thinking about doing any paint freshening up, make those colors neutral! Buyers typically have some plans to make it the home their own but if they can’t see past the lime green paint, it can be a distraction. Colors such as light browns, off-whites, light yellows and grey can really appeal to buyers.

Finish the Unfinished

I love projects. There is almost always something that can be improved or that needs to be fixed around my home; and I’m not always the best about being prompt at finishing those projects. As a seller trying to get a home sold quickly, you need to wrap up those projects to not deter potential buyers from thinking there are tons of problems with the home they are looking at. Finish the caulk, repair the hardwood, and repair the ceiling all to get new homeowners in the house fast!

Clean like you have Company Coming

When families come to visit for the holidays, I pull out all the stops- guest towels, break out the candles, put out flowers. The attention to detail will help buyers feel invited into the home and make it feel like theirs. So here’s another opportunity to break out those cherished, however, lightly used items to make it feel even cozier in your home.
