Hearts, cards, and restaurants are what I think of for Valentine’s day. I love the holiday because you can celebrate that special someone you really care about, but whether you’re a fan of Valentine’s day or not; this is a post you’ve got to read. I’ve picked out five of my favorite local stops to eat on a special occasion or just because. All of these picks are home grown Denton establishments that are absolutely fantastic. So pick up your sweetie and check out some of these great restaurants for Valentine’s Day.
Hannah’s
This may be one of my very very favorite restaurants to eat for lunch or dinner. Hannah’s is located just off of the square on Mulberry Street in a historic building that was previously a blacksmith business. The menu features fantastic truffle fries, wedge salad, and unique entrees such as beef cheek ravioli, duck breast, and trout. Plus, for all of the winos out there, Hannah’s has a great wine and drink selection. Dinner entrees start at $19 and go up to $46 each. If you enjoy eating out for lunch more than dinner, Hannah’s lunch menu is also fantastic and ranges from $14-$22.
Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant
Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant has some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. Located off of Locust Street in Denton, this fantastic restaurant has won numerous “Best of Denton” awards. Both lunch and dinner menus are fantastic at this restaurant, but no matter what time of day you stop by- don’t miss the tiramisu. Take my word for it, its to die for. Dinner entrees range from $9 to $16 each.
GreenHouse Restaurant and Bar
GreenHouse Restaurant and Bar is a Denton staple. Located off of Locust street, it’s a central location with a really cool atmosphere. This is perfect for any occasion, as they have 4 different dining areas and a outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice. GreenHouse features live music on Monday nights with drink specials for the occasion. The menu has a great mix of entrees including an assortment of grilled meats, tacos, country staples like chicken fried steak and also a fantastic drink selection. Entrees range from $8 to $18 per person.
Mr. Chopsticks
Mr. Chopsticks is a great option if you have other plans for Valentine’s Day besides dinner. This is quick Asian food that has it’s local atmosphere. Mr. Chopsticks menu includes rice bowls, sushi, and stir fry plates. But they don’t forget about drinks, they have a diverse drink selection including Sake. Everything is delicious and range from $5-$18.
Beth Marie’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream
If you want some fantastic local dessert I’ve got the spot for you. Beth Marie’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream has two locations in Denton, one right on the Historic Denton Square and the second one at Unicorn Lake. All of their ice cream is made with a machine from 1927 in Denton. They have over 100 flavors of ice cream, and they are all fantastic. Whether you want a cone, a sundae, or a milkshake they’ve got you covered. Additionally the atmosphere is fun, because its decorated like the early 1920s. Pricing is based on the weight at starts at .63 cents an ounce.
