October is here! Fall weather means festivals, food, and family! Here are my favorite events for the next couple of weeks in Denton County, Texas:
Aubrey Peanut Festival
October 3rd, 2015
Parade begins at 10:00 am
301 S. Main St. Aubrey, Texas 76227
The Aubrey Peanut Festival is one of my favorite festivals of the year. It dates back to 1986 to celebrate the history behind Aubrey’s commerce of peanuts. This year’s activities feature a horseshoe tournament, peanut butter sandwich eating contest, peanut spitting contest, peanut butter cup relay, and peanutty chef contest. Additionally there are many local vendors for art, music, and food. It’s a great time for everyone. To find out more, click here.
Bonnie and Clyde Days

5K registration at 7:00 am and begins at 8:00 am
Festivities begin at 10:00 am
102 E Main St. Pilot Point, Texas 76258
This festival in Pilot Point, Texas celebrates the filming of the movie Bonnie and Clyde in 1968. The bank robbery scene was filmed in the Pilot Point square, and additional scenes were filmed in surrounding areas. This festival has a 5K fun run for families, a soapbox contest, and reenactments throughout the day. Aaron Tippin will play following the festival at JEM Beverage Co, with doors opening at 6:30. Additionally, there will be different vendors selling local merchandise, food, car show, and games for the kids. For more information about the Bonnie and Clyde Days check out their website here.
